OUR MAIN PRODUCT: COFFEE

We Import sustainably sourced specialty Coffee, grown with the natural process in Transmara, Kenya. Our Coffee is fermented and sundried to ensure it keeps the sweetness and complex flavours from the fruit.  

SUSTAINABLE SOURCING

The Coffee is sustainably grown and picked by smallholder farmers who are paid above-market rates.

CONTROLLED FERMENTATION

The Coffee undergoes anaerobic fermentation in-fruit under controlled conditions for 3-4 Days to enable the complex flavour profile to develop.

SUN DRYING IN FRUIT

The coffee, still in-fruit is sun-dried for 1-2 weeks longer than washed Coffee which concentrates the sweetness and complex flavours.

Our Partners, Mara Coffee Exports Ltd. or ‘MARABICA’ grow specialty grade coffee in Transmara, Kenya. Not only does the Coffee grow in perfect climatic conditions but the team ensures the highest standards of quality and sustainable practice from seed to sorting.

Quality assurance starts in the Coffee nurseries, where the plants are grafted and grown into seedlings. Once matured, Marabica’s expert team of agronomists and quality assurance officers constantly monitor the nearly 100 acres of plantation to ensure the coffee is healthy, well yielding and picked at the optimal ripeness for natural processing.

Beyond meeting global standards for environmental compliance, Marabica is heavily involved in the Maasai Mara community. It has introduced Coffee growing as an alternative income source in a region that was largely pastoralist. It has distributed 2 million seedlings on loan to farmers struggling with capital and plans to support between 12,000-15,000 families within the next 5 years.

Grown in Perfect Conditions

 

Marabica’s Coffee plantation has the fortune of being located at a perfect altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level. It also receives optimal precipitation and cloud cover to produce high yields of Coffee without the need for manual intervention.
